Teatime with Mrs. Joho: Voodoo Chai
Hello and welcome back to Teatime with Mrs. Joho. With my birthday only days away, I decided to go back to my favorite time of year, Halloween, and discuss a tea I drank on that great day.
On Halloween in 2019, I ran to one of my favorite bookstores near me, Barnes & Noble, and ordered what they called a Voodoo Chai. Now, I don't know if all the stores were doing this, but when I saw mine was and what it was made with, I had to have it. It was chai tea, obviously, and apple cider with a caramel drizzle. Believe me when I say it tasted just as good as it sounds!
What Is Chai Tea And Its Benefits?
Now, before Halloween, I never had chai tea. I've always wanted to try it, but for whatever reason I didn't, so I didn't know what chai tea by itself tasted like. However, that will be changing soon because chai has many benefits to it. After reading an article I found on Cup & Leaf (a great tea company with many great articles on its site), I learned that chai tea is actually black tea with different spices like cardamom, ginger, black pepper, cloves, and other spices in it. I sincerely did not know that!
In that same article, I also learned the benefits that chai tea has and it makes me want to drink it even more. We already know some of the benefits of different spices like ginger and cardamom as I covered that in my article about the Ginger + Probiotic tea. However, the benefits of drinking chai tea are:
Helping you wake up in the morning.
Keeping your gut in check. (Thank you ginger!)
Can help relieve some aches and pains, including arthritis.
Can help with your immune system.
Can help with your cell health because of the high amount of antioxidants in this tea.
Can help with your heart health.
Pretty much, you are getting the benefits of black tea along with the benefits of all the different spices you can find in chai tea.
Now, back to the Voodoo Chai I had on Halloween from Barnes & Noble's Cafe. Like I mentioned earlier, it was delicious! It was a very tart and sweet drink because of the apple cider and caramel drizzle. It was the perfect fall/Halloween drink! I highly recommend it if Barnes & Noble's Cafe brings it back for the greatest holiday of the year. If they do, I will let you know on my social media pages.
